Chesterfield Gilbert and Sullivan Society held a fundraising morning last Saturday in the grounds of Elder Yard Unitarian Chapel which raised almost £300.
Members of the society manned stalls including a tombola, hand-made cards, home-made cakes and bric-a-brac, with proceeds being put towards society funds.
Customers were also able to enjoy coffee and cake while listening to members of the society performing a selection of songs from their next stage production, The Sorcerer, to be staged at the Pomegranate Theatre next month.
Society chairman, Jo Howland said: “We were very pleased that so many people supported the event and enjoyed hearing us sing, and even the weather was kind to us despite the gloomy forecast.”
“We shall be using some of the money raised to buy new publicity material for our shows and concerts and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make the morning such a success.”
