Chesterfield doctors' surgery is '˜outstanding'

Whittington Moor Surgery – which is run by six GPs and helps about 7,525 patients – was awarded the top mark by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) after an inspection.

Dr Elizabeth Church, a partner at the surgery on Scarsdale Road, said: “We are all delighted to have received an ‘outstanding’ rating from the CQC. The rating is testament to the hard work of all the staff at Whittington Moor Surgery. Our aim is to provide the best care possible for our patients. This means ensuring they are treated with compassion, dignity and respect at all times and involving them in decisions about their treatment and care.

“Key to us achieving this aim is to support our staff in every way to enable ideas to flourish and be realised. By supporting our staff in this way we find that the experience of, and our relationship with, our patients, colleagues and local community is enhanced enormously.”

Dr Ben Milton, chair of NHS North Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Whittington Moor Surgery is committed to creating a strong patient centred culture and it was wonderful to read that patients were consistently positive in their feedback about the care and treatment they received from staff at the practice.”

Janet Williamson, of the CQC, added: “Whittington Moor Surgery is a real asset to the people living in this part of Chesterfield.

“Our inspectors found the practice to be outstanding for providing safe, caring and well-led services and good for providing responsive and effective services.

“The practice has a clear vision with quality and safety as its top priority.”
