Chesterfield dancer Abi '˜can't wait' for homecoming '˜All our Yesterdays' show at Pomegranate
A professional dancer from Hasland who has performed on some of the world's biggest stages admits her first homecoming show in more than a decade has her '˜racked with nerves'.
Abi Turner, 28, has performed on five continents and completed almost a dozen national tours since achieving her dream of becoming a professional dancer aged just 16.
And now she’s returning to her roots, starring in Timeless Theatre Production’s new show, ‘All Our Yesterdays’ – which calls at Chesterfield’s Pomegranate Theatre as part of a national tour on Friday, April 13.
Abi said: “You definitely have a few more butterflies in your tummy knowing that there’ll be so many familiar faces in the audience – I’m nervous, but a good kind of nervous! As a kid, I spent countless hours treading the boards of the Pomegranate, but this is the first time I’ve performed in Chesterfield since turning professional over a decade ago. I’m really looking forward to it!”
Having honed her craft at Aspire School of Dance in Chesterfield, Abi went on to study at the prestigious SLP Musical Theatre College, securing her first professional gig just days after graduating with a distinction.
Since then, she has toured the world performing on board cruise ships, and in theatres and events worldwide.
“All Our Yesterdays is a really feel good show, featuring songs from over the decades. It’s fun, action-packed and you won’t be able to stop yourself singing along!”
She added: “It’s a real spectacle to enjoy, and as a dancer, it’s quite tiring to perform – we have over 160 costume changes!”
When she’s not performing, Abi choreographs international shows and tours –and also holds her own dance classes and workshops around the area, including Sunday morning dance classes at The Proact Stadium in Chesterfield.
Abi stars in ‘All Our Yesterdays’ which visits the Pomegranate Theatre on Friday, April 13 for two showings – at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
