Chesterfield council reminds disabled people about changes to car park

Councillor Steve Brunt, the council's cabinet member for town centres and visitor economy, said: "Changes to our car parks were introduced in May this year. Residents were given the opportunity to comment on the changes in a consultation held last autumn. Signs informing people about the changes were also posted in our car parks.

"Users of Old Ship Lane car park need to display both a disabled badge and an advance saver ticket allowing them to use the car park. A weekly saver ticket costs £5 or an annual saver is £50. These can be bought at both Chesterfield Visitor Information Centre or at New Beetwell Street multi-storey car park. These tickets can also be used in other council-run car parks.

"As the car park only has six spaces we have also changed the maximum time people can park there to four hours. This is in line with other town centre car parks and is intended to make it fairer for people to use."
