CHESTERFIELD CHAMPION: Walking in the countryside is a great escape

I am Emma Loughlin, I am 31 and live in Dronfield with my husband and Mojo '“ the cat.

I have worked in Chesterfield for the last six years and set up eBusiness Works – an online marketing company in 2013.

We work with growing businesses who are looking to increase their profile both online and offline, but don’t have the time or the resources to do so.

We specialise in content writing, newsletter production, social media and media relations.

It is an honour to work alongside some fantastic local and national businesses, and to be recognised as part of their team. We are very excited about the coming year as we have just employed our first apprentice who is eager to help the business grow.

1. What do you like best about living in Chesterfield and why?

I love the location and the town contains all the amenities and shops that we need. But the Peak District is right on the doorstep too.
2. What are you favourite ways to spend your free time in Derbyshire?

Running my own business means I get very little ‘free time.’ The little that I do get, I like to get out into the Peak District, it’s a nice escape after a hectic week at work. I also love to eat out in the wide variety of wonderful cafes and restaurants such as Northern Tea Merchants and Calabria.

3. Where is your favourite place to shop locally and why?

The Chesterfield Artisan market is fantastic to visit for a variety of wonderful food and gifts. Adorn Jewellers have some beautiful pieces, perfect for unique gifts and Chocolate by Design is absolute heaven.

4. What is your favourite ‘Hidden Gem’ in Chesterfield?

The Red Lion at the Peak Edge Hotel, it’s an amazing bar and bistro with fantastic food and customer service. The beautiful open fires are perfect for the winter days and warming up after a walk in the Peaks.

5. What are the positives about running a business here?

The fantastic variety of businesses that are based here and the fact that the business community is quite tight knit. Destination Chesterfield and the Chesterfield Champions scheme do a fantastic job. There is always plenty to get involved with for example, networking events, the Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards and the Chesterfield Retail Awards.

6. What new development excites you most?

Chesterfield Waterside, I think the new restaurants and facilities that this will bring will be great for the town.

You only have to look at other developments near water, for example, Salford Quays and Brindley Place to see what a difference these places make to the area.

7. What do you believe that Chesterfield needs but doesn’t yet have?

It would be great to have some more indoor facilities for when the weather isn’t so good. A ice skating rink would be fantastic and I think this would be a great addition for families and young people.
