CHESTERFIELD CHAMPION: The town has so much potential says apprentice Kayleigh

My name is Kayleigh Noakes and I have lived in chesterfield all of my life with my family in a small village in Heath.

We really enjoy it here as it has many great opportunities and is a really quiet area to live in.
I am really excited about getting my assistant apprenticeship with Destination Chesterfield. I am especially looking forward to all the upcoming events they have lined up like the Retail Awards and Food and Drink Awards, and also seeing how they will develop and promote the town with their other events.

Before getting this position, I have worked in both retail and childcare environments.

It has been insightful to see how other businesses work to provide great customer service and how they all contribute to help everyone around them to make Chesterfield the friendly, welcoming place it is.

It also has many tourist attractions, activities and events that everyone in the town can get involved in.

2. What are you favourite ways to spend your free time in Chesterfield?

My favourite ways to spend my free time in Chesterfield are eating out in the large variety of food places.

I also enjoy taking nice, long walks around the local country parks with my boyfriend or family.

I also like to visit the cinema, or the Winding Wheel.

3. Where are your favourite places to eat out locally and why?

Personally, I think H & F Vintage Tea Rooms is one of the best places to go, as it is a really welcoming, cosy place to go with excellent customer service.

They have a good variety of options on the menu – especially their coffee and cakes. I can see why they were one of the winners at the Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards.

4. Where is your favourite place to shop locally and why?

It’s great that the Retail Awards were introduced for locals to nominate who they think are the best shops in Chesterfield.

Debenhams was one of the winners last year.

I can see why and understand as it is one of my favourite places to shop. It has everything you will need from clothes to shoes, bags, perfume, make-up and furniture.

5. What new development excites you most?

The new Queen’s Park Sports Centre excites me as it has a lot to offer – a much wider variety like the pool and the larger sports hall area, and the gym equipment for the community. The new gym area is a better place for everyone to get more active and enjoy the upgraded equipment – with sauna areas that you can relax in afterwards.

6. What three words do you think best sum up Chesterfield?

Welcoming, potential and affordable.
