CHESTERFIELD CHAMPION: '˜The quaint market town gives off the vibes of a city'

My name is Joe Morton and I work as a digital marketing apprentice at eBusiness Works.

I live with my parents in New Whittington, Chesterfield and have two dogs, Brian and Bertie.

I’ve lived in Chesterfield all of my life and have now been working at eBusiness Works for over six months.

We are an online marketing and communications business and we offer other local businesses help across all of their online media including website management, social media and eNewsletters.

eBusiness Works was established in 2013 when our directors discovered a gap in the market for a company that can combine and join up all forms of online communication, marketing, social media and PR.

We work with growing businesses which are looking to raise their profile both on and offline, but don’t have the time or the resources to do so.

There are now four of us working here in our small office space in Chesterfield.

1. What do you like best about living in Chesterfield and why?

I think that Chesterfield is a great place to live because it has all the credentials of a quaint market town, yet it still manages to give off the vibes of a city.

Also, Chesterfield has great transportation links so it is really easy to get around the town but also further afield if you need to.

2. What are your favourite ways to spend your free time in Derbyshire?

I enjoy shopping in the town centre and visiting Alma Leisure Park for great food and a film.

I do love that there are so many fantastic walks available to enjoy around Derbyshire as well and love going to the Peak District.

3. Where is your favourite place to shop locally and why?

Toad and Infinities in the town centre are my favourite places to shop for clothes as I find they have a unique selection to choose from.

4. What is your favourite hidden gem in Chesterfield and why?

My favourite hidden gem is definitely Northern Tea Merchants on Chatsworth Road. I always buy my tea from here and it is certainly a favourite to drink both at home and in the office, once you’ve tried it you’ll never go back.

5. What are the positives about running a business here?

It’s great to have an organisation like Destination Chesterfield helping and supporting local business. They host a lot of networking events and run the Chesterfield Champions scheme, which helps to ensure that we all maintain a good relationship with others in Chesterfield’s business community.

6. What new development excites you most?

The Chesterfield Waterside scheme is exciting for everyone in the local area as it will bring many more people and businesses into the town.

7. What do you believe Chesterfield needs but doesn’t yet have?

We already have a cinema but it would be great to see them refreshed with bigger screens.
