I am Nigel Thomason and I am the sales director at lndustrial Ancillaries.
Founded in 1969, Industrial Ancillaries Ltd is an industry-leading, UK-based distributor of superior quality hydraulic, pneumatic, instrumentation and process products.
Recent years have witnessed the dynamic and successful expansion of the company by strategic appointments and considerable investment in business premises, warehousing, technology, training and stock.
In the last 30 years, I have worked directly with the engineering sector both nationally and internationally. I joined industrial Ancillaries some ten years ago with a strategic plan for growth.
This growth has enabled us to invest in our national distribution centre, increase stock levels dramatically, build a strong management structure and invest in personnel.
1. What do you like best about living in Chesterfield and why?
Everything I need right on the door step. There are a variety of businesses in Chesterfield and it has become the place where you can source anything you need.
From the market for fresh produce, to specialized mechanical equipment.
2. What are your favourite ways to spend your free time in Derbyshire?
The Peak District is a beautiful place and has some beautiful walks and scenery. Chesterfield as a town is also a great place to socialise and network.
3. Where is your favourite place to shop locally and why?
Chesterfield is booming with independent shops, in particular stores that specialise in food produce.
The Chatsworth Farm Shop is one of my favourite places to visit and offers very high quality produce.
4. What is your favourite hidden gem in Chesterfield and why?
Not so much hidden, but the Casa Hotel has excellent food and the standard of the accommodation is superb. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is vibrant, intimate and relaxing.
5. What are the positives about running a business here?
Our distribution centre has been constructed as part of the new Markham Vale Commerce Park development – located in North Derbyshire.
The location of Markham Vale is essential and allows us to conduct business up to
18.00 for delivery anywhere in the UK for the next day.
This is largely due to the ease of access to the motorway network.
6. What new development in the area excites you most?
The Markham Vale site at Junction 29A has expanded significantly. The sheer expansion and increase in the business community here is exciting.
7. What do you believe Chesterfield needs but doesn’t yet have?
Chesterfield is developing at a fast rate, we’re seeing the expansion of business parks and the development of the new smart motorway. There is little that Chesterfield doesn’t have or isn’t already working towards.
