CHESTERFIELD CHAMPION: '˜I am extremely proud to call Chesterfield my home'

My name is Laura Jo Owen and I live in Chesterfield with my husband Adam.

We also live with our furry family including Gandalf the Cairn terrier (head of security at Adorn) and our two black and white cats Pyclet and Kermit.

I moved to Chesterfield when I was six years old and, although I’ve travelled and lived in different places, I’m extremely proud to call Chesterfield my home.

Adam and I own and run our award-winning business, Adorn Jewellers, in Middle Shambles at the heart of Chesterfield.

We opened Adorn in 2010 and became Chesterfield Champions soon after.

We’re proud to have been named the Derbyshire Times Retailer of the Year in 2016, as well as being awarded Jewellery and Accessories Retailer of the Year and Excellence in Customer Service in the Chesterfield Retail Awards for 2015 and 2016.

1. What’s your best memory of the town?

The award ceremonies last year are my favourite memory of the town, to have so many talented business people in one place was incredible, and it was such an amazing feeling to win.

The town is easy to find your way around but has plenty to explore, hidden lanes and cosy tea shops, historical churches, picturesque architecture and lovely shops.

4. What are the positives of running a business here?

We’re well located so many customers can visit easily and there is a great atmosphere, especially on market days.

We are also fortunate to have amazing customers that support local businesses such as ours.
