CHESTERFIELD CHAMPION: '˜The beautiful Peak District is a bonus for the town'

I am Megan Smyth, I'm 24 years-old and am the wedding and events coordinator at the luxury four-star Casa Hotel in Chesterfield.

I have worked at Casa since the opening of the hotel back in November 2010, and have always enjoyed using my creative skills in the role.

I have lived in the wonderful town of Chesterfield my whole life and have recently moved to Hasland with my partner Rhys.

I feel that I do have a keen eye for the vintage trend and that seems to rub off on my work here at Casa quite a bit.

One of my favourite parts of the role is being able to help and advise my clients to make sure that they have the perfect wedding day.

Casa is certainly a popular venue for weddings due to us being able to cater for everything from the ceremony to the reception.

We are also one of the only hotels in the UK to boast balcony hot tubs in our four top suites, so you can start your honeymoon early.

I enjoy visiting the popular shops we have here in Chesterfield and it’s also great to be able to venture out to the beautiful Peak District which, being on our doorstep, is such a bonus for the town.

3. Where is your favourite place to shop locally and why?

I love high street fashion, but places like Huckleberry Willow and Libby’s are always a good place to find something unique.

When you visit these places, the shopping experience that you get is like no other, and there are so many different types of gifts to look through.

Olympia House is an absolute treasure trove for all things vintage. I could spend hours there.

I never come out without having purchased something. The tea rooms are lovely too.

The location really works for us here. You can get to most major cities in just two hours from Chesterfield, it makes us an ideal location for conferences and events.

6. What new development in the area excites you most?

The opening of the University of Derby’s St Helena’s campus will be fantastic for the town, bringing many more people from all walks of life into the area.
