Chesterfield cake queen Phyllis rises to challenge of teaching kids how to bake
An entrepreneur has risen to the challenge of teaching youngsters how to bake.
Phyllis Bown has launched a new studio at her Chesterfield business to hold baking workshops for children.
Phyllis, who owns Harriet’s Couture Cakes on Chatsworth Road, said: “I’m really passionate about baking. Both my grandmothers taught me to bake.
“My grandmother Harriet was an excellent baker and taught me a lot of my baking skills, including bread making, pastry dishes, cakes and many homemade recipes.
“My grandmother Eileen taught me other baking skills which made delicious dishes.
“I’m eternally grateful that I had such good mentors who helped me with my passion for baking – and now I want to pass on my skills to other children.”
