CHESTERFIELD: Borough council chief John Burrows speaks to Inner Wheel

Inner Wheel

The speaker for Chesterfield Inner Wheel’s February meeting should have been Mr Toby Perkins, Member of Parliament for Chesterfield. Unfortunately he had been called for duty in Eastleigh, Hampshire. He very kindly asked Cllr John Burrows, chairman of the Chesterfield Borough Council to deputise for him. What an excellent replacement he proved to be. His integrity and passion for the development of our town was very evident. He outlined the projected improvements and answered many questions. It proved to be an enlighting and informative meeting.

A business session followed when reports were given and future arrangements discussed.

Members had previously visited the Pomegranate Theatre for a performance of Agatha Christie’s “Go home for Murder” and a coffee morning at Christine Heathcote’s home. Both had been thoroughly enjoyed and well supported.

On Saturday, February 23, O.S.O Judith Coker hosted a soup and sweet luncheon in aid of overseas funds. This was a very successful social occasion attended by many members and their husbands.
