Derby College is starting its latest 12-week free Prince’s Trust programmes in the Chesterfield or Alfreton area later this month aimed at young people aged 16 to 25.
The Prince’s Trust Team programme supports young adults who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law.
The programme is based on individual and team challenges in the community and is designed to help improve job prospects for young people through team building activities, a week-long residential trip, a community project and a two-week work experience placement.
Deborah Beuzeval, Prince’s Trust Team Senior at Derby College, said: “The Team programme was launched in 1990 by HRH The Prince of Wales, The Prince’s Trust president, and has been running at Derby College since 1998.
“Since then, thousands of local young people have had the opportunity to make a change to their lives and a positive difference to their local communities. It is a chance to gain skills and increase their confidence and motivation to take their next steps into work, education and training. Programmes are run on a rolling programme across various centres in the city and county throughout the year and we are currently recruiting for the latest programme which will be based in either Chesterfield or Alfreton – depending on demand.”
