Police investigating the death of an 85-year-old woman who was found dead at a house in Chesterfield have said they do not believe it to be suspicious.

Officers were called to the property on Blandford Drive at about 12.20pm yesterday.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: “We’re awaiting the results of a post-mortem but at the moment we do not believe her death to be suspicious.”

A police cordon is still in place at the scene.

Neigbours spoke fondly of the pensioner, known only as Edna, saying she was a “very nice lady”.
