CELEBRITY dancer and former member of parliament Ann Widdecombe has made a special trip to Chesterfield to raise money for charity.
So far more than £12,000 has been raised for Marie Curie, a cancer care charity, and Help for Heroes at the event which was held at the Casa Hotel on Lockoford Lane, Chesterfield.
The money will be split evenly between the two charities.
Event organiser Angela Oates said: “I think it went really well.
“I wrote to her last December and she accepted to come.”
As part of the fundraiser, Ann Widdecombe, 64, gave a talk and answered some questions from the public, including what her views was on the current tax system and if she had more fun being blonde.
“Not really, but I did notice men talked to me much... more... slowly,” she laughed.
The Strictly star, who appeared in the dancing show last year, said: “It went extremely well, we raised a lot of money. It’s great to have been here.
“I do like Chesterfield, I like your Crooked Spire.”
