BUDDING fundraising runners are urged to sign up early and take advantage of discount entry costs for the Shirebrook Sport Relief Mile 2012.

The Bolsover District Council event is scheduled for Sunday, March 25, 2012, at the former Shirebrook Pit Tip Trails behind Sports Direct in Shirebrook.

But individuals and families are being encouraged to sign up early and benefit from half price entry fees.

A council spokesman explained that up until 1st October the cost to enter is just £3 for adults, £1.50 for children and £7.50 for a family of four.

There will be a variety of courses to participate in with your family, your mates or against the clock including one, three or six miles.

All the money raised from Sports Relief is spent helping poor and disadvantaged people turn their lives around in the UK as well as the world’s poorest countries.

It is simple and easy to register. Those interested can go to and sign up to the Shirebrook Mile.

There will be a variety of other activities available on the day including Bolsover District Council’s Extreme Wheels Roadshow or for the less energetic they can browse around the Sports Direct shop.

The event is organised by the council in partnership with Sports Direct and Derbyshire Sport and for more information please telephone 01246 593066 or visit for details.
