LEGENDS of Chesterfield FC’s past were out in force in a charity football match against the country’s best loved soapstars.

Jamie Walker’s sixth annual charity match in aid of the Shannon Bradshaw Trust, Lymphoma Association and Chesterfield FC’s Community Trust was a huge success, with over 3,500 fans pouring into the B2net Stadium to show their support last Sunday.

Organiser, and former Spireite, Phil Walker, said: “It really is phenomenal and I can’t thank people enough for turning up and showing their support today for three great causes.”

Taking an early lead were the ageing legends, with Ernie Moss, Alan Birch, Bob Newton, Andy Morris, Jamie Walker and Dave Caldwell amongst the greats of Chesterfield FC’s past.

The soapstars pulled the match level, and despite a second goal from Newton, they were level again by half-time.

But the legends couldn’t bring it back, with Waterloo Road’s Lucien Laviscount scoring the decisive winner in the second half, making the score 5-4 to the soapstars.

The day raised over £10,000 for charity and featured a raffle, auctions and entertainment.
