1 - What do you like best about living in Chesterfield and why?

The best thing about living in Chesterfield is definitely the people. The town is a hive of activity with plenty to do, and the majority of people are extremely friendly and talkative especially in the local shops.

2 - What are your favourite ways to spend your free time in Derbyshire?

I particularly enjoy taking a day trip to play football in Queen’s Park with my son. Whilst in my free time I like to take a relaxing stroll around the town, looking at some of Chesterfield’s iconic buildings like the Crooked Spire and the Market Hall, which looks great after recent refurbishment. Chesterfield is certainly the place to be for entertainment too, with the Winding Wheel and Pomegranate Theatre providing publicity for the town with their regular shows.

3 - Where is your favourite place to eat out locally and why?

In terms of eating out I really like visiting The Soulville Steakhouse for an evening meal. They have some great deals, and also the food is delicious. On a work day, I like to eat from a small family owned sandwich shop called Take A Break on Glumangate, they have some great Homemade Cakes on sale amongst other things. You simply can’t compare local handmade food to generic supermarket goods.

4 - What are the positives about running a business here?

The main positive of running a business in Chesterfield is definitely the amount of businesses out there that I can help! There are hundreds of companies out there and not just in the centre of Chesterfield.

5 - How do you see the future for Chesterfield and its small businesses?

The future for businesses in Chesterfield is very bright. A lot of businesses are now slowly recovering from the impact of the recession and growing from strength to strength. This is where I can step in to give them that helping hand.

6 - If you had a magic wand, what one thing would you do to improve Chesterfield?

My magic wand in Chesterfield would definitely be pointed towards helping younger people, especially to help them understand the importance of supporting local businesses in order for the town to thrive.
