Cat flap burglar pinched keys from Derbyshire house – but couldn’t start car

A burglar reached through a cat flap and stole a set of car keys – but couldn’t start the vehicle.

Police said the burglar reached through the cat flap at a house on Firs Avenue, Alfreton, on Friday and hooked the keys off the side.

A brown shoulder bag with flowers embossed on it was taken from the house, along with a key to a car which was parked outside.

The car wasn’t taken because the raider could not start it, police said.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
