There will be medieval capers afoot in Glossop when jousters wow the crowds at the annual carnival.
This year’s Glossop Carnival will deliver the same variety of family fun jam-packed into one weekend, July 6 and 7.
The event is held at Manor Park and organised by Glossop Arts and Leisure Association (GALA).
Throughout Saturday and Sunday, the Ting Tang Theatre will be taking centre stage with jousting displays.
GALA Chairman Joyce Ashley has been involved in organising the event for 30 years.
She said: “The carnival is a huge weekend of family fun.
“We have people telling us it’s the best day out they have all year and that’s the kind of response we want.”
Joyce said the carnival offers attractions for both young and old.
The Eden Bus will be parked up for the weekend offering young people between the ages of 13 and 19 years old the chance to kick back and enjoy chatting with friends and meeting new people.
Dynamite Dance will perform on Saturday and fellow dance troop Centre Stage will be showing of their skills on Sunday.
There will be entertainment from a swing band and Arnfield Brass Band.
The top dogs of the High Peak will be strutting their stuff as part of the ever popular RSPCA dog show on Saturday and a veteran and vintage car show will be held on Sunday, followed by a trophy presentation.
On both days, the Paper Wizard will be youngsters origami.
