Jobseeker figure falls again

Derbyshire has seen another drop in the number of people claiming jobseeker’s allowance.

Latest data from the Office for National Statistics shows 14,697 people were claiming the benefit in November – compared to 15,045 the previous month.

Scott Knowles, deputy chief executive of Derbyshire’s chamber of commerce, said: “There is always a seasonal bounce as many companies, particularly in the retail, leisure and hospitality sectors, take on more temporary staff.”
