A Chesterfield cycle store which is backing Derbyshire Times’s Flagg Cycle Challenge for Ashgate Hospicecare has clinched a top award.
JE James, on Brimington Road North, at Whittington Moor roundabout, has been named The English Store of the Year in the Cycle Awards for its efforts in encouraging people to join the bike to work Cyclescheme.
Cyclescheme award organisers described JE James as deserving of the inaugural national award which marks the tenth anniversary of the scheme.
JE James manager Dean Poole said: “It’s a great privilege to have been voted the Best English store of 2015. JE James has been a part of the cycling landscape for over 35 years and this award is a great honour. We pride ourselves on our service and commitment to customers and this award is a testament to our great team.”
The store is encouraging people to talk to employers and set themselves up with a discount bike to work scheme bicycle to commute, keep fit and help the environment.
Those who get involved are being urged to join JE James and Derbyshire Times’s Flagg Cycle Challenge 50 or 25mile bike rides to support the charity.
The rides sets off from the hospice from 9am, on Sunday, July 26, with breathtaking views. The 25 and 50 milers roll out across Cutthorpe, Baslow, Calver and to Ashford-in-the-Water where the 25 milers return and the 50milers carry on to Sheldon, Flagg, Monyash and Birchover, before coming back via Chatsworth.
