Business leader Jillian Thomas is celebrating after winning a regional award recognising the achievements of women in business.

Jillian, managing director of Derbyshire-based Future Life Wealth Management and former president of the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, has scooped the Inspiring Business Leader award at the Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards, Midlands regional heats.

Jillian, along with the winners of the other regional heats, will now be invited to appear before a live judging interview panel in November, followed by the grand national final in Leeds on December 1.

She said: “I’m thrilled to have won the Midlands Forward Ladies Inspiring Business Leader Award. To be up alongside such a diverse and skilled group is testament to the success of business women in general and it’s fantastic to showcase all we have achieved.

“I’m looking forward to celebrating our successes at the grand finals in December. It is set to be a wonderful occasion.”

The Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards, sponsored by HSBC, are designed to recognise and reward the talented women across the UK.

The awards, which were created to celebrate trail blazing and pioneering women from enterprise and business, give women a unique opportunity to acknowledge their successes and become credible and inspirational role models for others.

Future Life Wealth Management, based in Renishaw, offers a bespoke financial planning service to generators of wealth, typically business owners, executives and professionals and also to receivers of wealth, such as inheritors, divorcees, widows and retirees.

The company has grown significantly since it was launched by Jillian at her home in 2009, now employing eight members of staff and helping more than 350 clients.

In 2015, Jillian also became only the second woman to take on the role of president of the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, using this role to make positive changes to business within the city and helping to put the Sheffield City Region on the map.
