A burst water main in Chesterfield has been fixed and supplies are returning to normal, Severn Trent Water has confirmed.

The issue has been affecting residents in the Old Tupton area but all customers should now have their water supplies back on.

Severn Trent said: "As we've moved water around in a different way to usual, some customers may see some discoloured water. This is nothing to worry about - it's just harmless sediment that's been stirred up, and it will gradually clear.

"Now that the pipe is fixed, we can start work on repairing the damage to the road. To keep everyone safe, we've had to close Station New Road near the junction with Wingfield Road, and we've put traffic lights on Nethermore Road.

"We'd just like to say sorry to everyone affected by the burst or who's going to have a longer journey than normal to or from work and school because of the road closure."
