Two brothers have been charged with animal cruelty after a dog was found dead.

Police discovered the body of the animal at a property in Shuttlewood, Bolsover, on November 10 last year.

Two men, Thomas Hill and James Hill, were arrested.

Police this morning confirmed that Thomas Hill, 20, of Houfton Road, Bolsover, has been charged in connection with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, arson and conspiracy to destroy or damage property.

James Hill, 21, of Hillcrest Close, Bolsover, has been charged in connection with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, arson and criminal damage.

Both men are due to appear before magistrates in Chesterfield on February 3.
