Broken leg didn't stop Chesterfield martial arts bride from getting hitched to childhood sweetheart
The Chesterfield mum-of-two was embroiled in a duel at martial arts gym Fifty Five Degrees when her partner accidentally landed on her leg - breaking it just two weeks before she was due to wed boyfriend of 20 years, Aaron.
After being carried down the stairs by “the lads” at the gym and whisked off to hospital, Donna was told she was looking at three to four months recovery time.

“I’d planned the wedding for 20 years to the day that Aaron and I met, and I wanted that day, I was pretty adamant,” said Donna.
“First I had the hen do at a spa to contend with - which was planned for the same week as I broke my leg, which was at this point in a full cast.
“I spent a lot of that in a wheelchair and next thing I’m making my way down the aisle on crutches, but it was still an amazing day. Aaron said he was really proud.”

“Hopefully my leg will be better by then, as I’m a bit fed up of sitting on the sofa with my leg up,” said Donna.
“I’ve always been really independent and active, so it’s not been easy.
“I have always loved martial arts so much- and I really hope I haven’t put anyone off if they’re thinking of trying it- injuries are very rare.
“The guys at the gym are incredible, and I’d like to say a huge thank you to them for bring brilliant during my accident.”
