Pink pants, spotty socks and a salt and vinegar crisp packet have been flushed down a toilet in Derbyshire.

A North East Derbyshire District Council spokesperson said its Streetscene staff had to extricate the items after being called out to a blocked drain in an unspecified location.

The spokesperson added: "Please do not flush any of these items down the toilet.

"The picture is to let people see what we have to deal with and to try and educate them not to put items like these down the drains otherwise they get blocked and cause problems which can run into thousands of pounds to sort out."
