The second meeting of Brampton and Walton Townswomen was held in St Thomas’ Suite, Chatsworth Road on October 16.
Thirty-three members and nine visitors chose activity and interest groups which will be run between the main monthly meetings. They were informed of the many events and activities on in the Chesterfield and District Federation of Townswomen in which they could participate. There was a request for further volunteers for the committee and two more members came forward.
Following a brief interval the speaker Alva de Chiro shared her Memoirs and Mishaps and Mayhem. This was both an amusing and fascinating insight into one person’s life which easily makes most people’s seemingly chaotic lives appear very mundane!
The next meeting is on Wednesday, November 20. There will be a trip out from St Thomas’ to a garden centre to hear a talk on the use of botanical and common names for plants, with plenty of real plants for examples. This will be followed by an opportunity for some hands on gardening, with members being able to fill an alpine bowl to take home.
