Another resounding success story and wonderful time of fun and fellowship with boys and girls and staff from 2nd Chesterfield Boys’ Brigade (BB) who joined with other BB companies at the annual camp held at The Polish Scout Camp, Torksey Lock, Lincolnshire, over the weekend. Seventy-four boys, girls and staff from companies from Matlock, Chesterfield and Sheffield attended this year. Lots of activities and sport on the excellent site fields were crammed into a weekend at the Polish Scout Camp.

Michael Fentem, in two guises – one as Uncle Michael the Clown for Juniors and then as ‘himself’ with Company Section set the tone for the theme of “Light of the World” at the Friday night worship/opening.

On Saturday Mark Boswell, Sheffield Battalion BB President, astounded youngsters with his laser gun and demonstration of how the light from a laser can be used to good processes. Saturday afternoon saw Juniors visiting Wheelgate Theme Park at Farnsfield by double decker bus whilst older Company Section members went off to Laser Tag and ‘zapped’ their way around the course near Lincoln. All came back ravenous to a roast dinner with all the trimmings. The weather was not very warm and it did rain a bit at the theme park.

Saturday evening the Juniors made javelin arrows which were tested out on the field and the Company Section had a film evening.

After early morning sport, the camp Talent Show, compered by one of the older lads and produced by one of the officers with ‘surprise’ celebrity panel, resulted in a great time on Sunday morning before lunch. Jokes, street dance, singers and musicians entertained everyone. From the 2nd Chesterfield, Thomas Armstrong-Read played hose pipe and trumpet whilst Kieran Adams, Daniel Shipley and Sam Kirk ‘danced the cancan’. Thomas Richardson-Jarvis played the ukulele.

Mike Warren, battalion chaplain, closedthe weekend with a service in his inimitable style of worship.
