The 2nd Chesterfield Boys’ Brigade, at Storrs Road Methodist Church Centre, welcomed two guide dogs, Victoria, a black Labrador with her handler Irene, and Otis, a black retriever, with her handler Mark, to their Monday meeting.
Irene and Mark explained how the dogs are trained and how they ‘work’ whilst out walking. All the youngsters were able to stroke the dogs.
The group has chosen Guide Dogs for the Blind as the charity they are supporting and have been collecting cash in a ‘dog bone’ money box and hope to have a sponsored event later in the year.
The boys and girls all received a bookmark, badge and stickers to remember the evening.
