A bomb disposal team was called after a shell was found in a back garden.

The object was discovered by a resident on Nottingham Road, Ripley, just after 10am on Tuesday.

The shell, which was 10ins in length and shaped like a bullet, was taken away by the bomb disposal unit to be destroyed.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said: “We set up a cordon while the unit safely removed the object by 1pm.”
