On Monday, September 2, Mrs Mary Revill, chairman of the Bolsover Mother’s Union, welcomed Val and Tony Loach to talk about the wide-ranging work of the Christian relief and development organisation Samaritan Purse, whose mission is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, regardless of their background or religious belief.

Together with the church worldwide, Samaritan Purse runs the Operation Christmas Child Project, which makes a connection with a child overseas by giving them a present of a shoebox gift, that has been prepared following an advisory list of items, by generous individuals in this country and throughout the world.

The members watched a film of African children opening their gifts of age-appropriate toys, educational supplies, hygiene items and treats.
