Bolsover jobs hope site plans go public

Developers hope to bring 3,000 new jobs to Bolsover with the launch of a proposed multi-million pound industrial estate.

Goodman International aims to redevelop the former Coalite Smokeless Fuels site, off Buttermilk Lane, Shuttlewood, with industrial and warehouse units and is putting plans on public display on Wednesday, June 25.

Martin Eckersall, Goodman International's associate director of infrastructure, said: "The site presents an excellent opportunity for new jobs within Bolsover on land already allocated for employment development."

The company wanted to meet residents and groups to obtain feedback before submitting a planning application to Bolsover District Council and NE Derbyshire District Council later this summer.

The former Coalite site has been left derelict ever since its closure in 2004 with many campaign groups concerned about its possible future use.

Plans will be on display at Bolsover Assembly Hall, from 4pm to 8pm, for residents and community groups to consider.
