Bolsover and North East Derbyshire district councils have confirmed the pending appointment of a new chief executive to oversee the local authorities following the retirement of Wes Lumley.
Councillors at both authorities unanimously approved Daniel Swaine’s appointment on Monday and he will replace Mr Lumley.
Mr Swaine is expected to start in the autumn, focussing on growth and economic development.
He said, “I am delighted to be appointed and I am looking forward to undertaking the role and working for two excellent councils.”
Mr Swaine is currently the deputy chief executive officer and monitoring officer at Rushcliffe Borough Council in neighbouring Nottinghamshire.
Bolsover district council leader Ann Syrett and North East Derbyshire District Council leader Graham Baxter revealed how they have been really impressed with Mr Swaine’s enthusiasm and experience.
Mr Lumley has served Bolsover for 11 years and has been joint CEO for the Bolsover and North East councils since 2011.
