Body found at Sawley Marina in Long Eaton

Police are investigating the death of a woman after a body was discovered at Sawley Marina in Long Eaton.

The body was discovered around 10.21pm on Sunday April 5 in the marina in Warren Lane.

The area was cordoned off to allow for a forensic examination and that has since been lifted.

The deceased has not yet been formally identified and a post-mortem examination has been carried out and further tests are being conducted.

A 65-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector 1127 Mick Graham, from Leicestershire Police, is leading the investigation. He said; “At this stage we’re investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and events leading up to it, our enquiries are ongoing and we would urge anyone who may have been at the marina between 11pm on Saturday evening (April 4) and 11pm onSunday evening (April 5) and hasn’t yet spoken to the police to come forward.
