Birchover Carnival promises to be a spectacular event this year, say organisers.
Locals and non-locals are expected to flock to the event on July 16.
The entertainment begins outside The Druid Inn at 11.30am where Whitwell Brass Band, who are regular visitors to the carnival, will be performing.
Also appearing outside the Red Lion and The Druid Inn during the day are ‘Freaks in the Peaks’ - a morris dance group who perform their own interpretations of traditional Welsh border morris dances, as well as modern dances created in the same style.
Adding another traditional flavour will be organ grinder Paddy Cooke and his mechanical monkey, Simon, who will be visiting from Crich.
Whitwell Brass Band will lead the procession through the main street to the village playing field at around 1pm, for a fun-packed gala afternoon.
Entertainment will include rides, stalls, activities and displays including a large climbing wall, a Punch and Judy Show, giant inflatables, a bucking bronco, tug o’ war, raffle, tombola and craft stalls.
From 7pm the fun moves to Barn Farm Campsite where a free Carnival Music Festival will take place .
Jim Rimmer, from the Carnival Committee said “Birchover Carnival is now a regular, well attended event for residents and visitors alike. It has become a wonderful opportunity for the community to get together .”
