Dog-lovers are to get the chance to take part in an event to help raise funds for a new animal centre for the town’s RSPCA branch.

The Big Walkies event will take place on Sunday September 6 at 2.30pm in Holmebrook Valley Country Park in Chesterfield and all money raised will benefit the Derbyshire Times backed rebuild appeal which has now raised over £47,000.

Humans taking part will receive a t-shirt for their efforts while four-legged participants will get a bandana.

Julie Platts, branch fundraiser, RSPCA Chesterfield & North Derbyshire Branch, said: “Every stride takes us closer and closer to achieving our goal so we can continue helping thousands of neglected, abused, and abandoned animals from our region get the second chance they so truly deserve.”

If people are unable to attend, but want to support the event, they can contribute at www.justgiving.com/bigwalkieschesterfield2015.
