Cullen Tebb, of Scarcliffe, near Boslover, completed the 62-mile Race to the Stones ultramarathon in 16 hours and 43 minutes.

The big-hearted 16-year-old – who entered the challenge using £120 of his Christmas money – has raised almost £2,000 for the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

His mum Lindsey said: “I’m so proud of Cullen.

“Teenagers get a lot of bad press – but Cullen has done something remarkable.

“There have been many tears from family and friends.”

Mum-of-three Lindsey said Cullen faced a number of challenges during the fundraiser.

“He could have quite easily given up but kept going,” she added.

He said: “I took part in Race to the Stones because I wanted to have a positive effect on as many people’s lives as possible.”

He thanked everyone who sponsored and supported him.

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice offers palliative care and support to families who have a youngster with complex medical needs and a shortened life expectancy.

The Race to the Stones event took place along the Ridgeway, described as Britain’s oldest road, which runs from the Chilterns in Oxfordshire to the North Wessex Downs.
