A man who threatened to stab a woman before raping her has been jailed.
Ben Simpson, 35, was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years in prison at Nottingham Crown Court.
Following a four-day trial, he was found guilty of one count of rape, one of assault and one of causing a fear of violence. He had pleaded not guilty throughout.
Simpson, formerly of Manor Road, Belper, told the woman that he would stab her if she didn't let him have sex with her.
After carrying out the attack in Mansfield on August 16 last year, he called her a 's*ag'.
He also punched her in the eye.
Detective Inspector Nikki Smith, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This is a nasty, violent individual who has left the victim completely traumatised.
"I hope the sentence handed down to him gives some closure to the victim and reassurance to others out there that we will believe them and do everything we can to bring perpetrators to justice."
