Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is urging residents in the southern half of Chesterfield to serve as the voice of their community.
The trust is seeking nominations from residents of nine Chesterfield wards – including Hasland, St Leonard’s and Walton – to stand for the vacant Chesterfield south governor post.
The successful candidate will help to shape the activities of the trust, hold the board of directors publically to account and be involved in a range of visits to NHS services.
Victoria Cassidy has been a governor for nearly four years, representing Amber Valley north.
Victoria said: “I really enjoy the experience of meeting people and learning about the many facets of the trust.
“One of the most important parts of my role is speaking to members of my community and representing their views to make a difference to our healthcare services.
“As we represent a specific constituency – the area where we live – we can represent views and opinions and take them to the trust’s board of directors for their attention.
“As governors we are unpaid so we have a unique opportunity to be free to ask questions.
“The governor is a conduit for the constituency they serve – an important voice.”
Anyone interested in standing to become a governor should contact the trust on 01332 623723.

Nominations must be received by Monday.
