BAKEWELL: RBL Women’s section branch hears Walking for Health talk

Fifteen members of the Royal British Legion Women’s Section, Bakewell Branch gathered for their first monthly meeting of 2013, as January’s had to be cancelled due to the atrocious weather conditions.

The meeting was opened with the Act of Homage said by the branch chairman, Mrs Angela Swift.

The branch welcomed speaker Howard Griffith, the Walking for Health officer of Derbyshire Dales District Council who spoke about the different levels of led walks across the Derbyshire Dales supporting local communities to maintain active lifestyles and improve the health and wellbeing of local people. Further information is available from Howard on (01629) 761194.

The raffle was organised by Mrs Maureen Kreuger and winners included the chairman, Mrs P. Partridge, Mrs P. Haynes and Mrs H. Waite.

Refreshments were served by the branch treasurer, Mrs Lynne Pheasey.

The next meeting is on March 26, when a combined committee and monthly meeting will be held followed by bingo.

Visitors and new members welcome to attend at the town hall.
