Bakewell & district Club for the Disabled held its annual harvest festival service at the town hall, attended by 25 members and helpers.

The service was conducted by Methodist Minister, the Rev David Briggs. Musical accompaniment was provided by Stephen Hunt on his accordion.

The service was followed by a harvest tea thoroughly enjoyed by the members and served by willing helpers.

Members and friends provided a fabulous array of harvest goods. They were auctioned by stephen Hunt in his inimitable and humorous manner. He has done this for around 40 years and said: “I don’t recall many other harvest festivals with a more splendid sight.” The auction raised £102.30.

Chairman, Diane Edwards thanked Rev Briggs and Stephen Hunt for their parts in the service.

Diane organised the raffle and winners were: Millie Garrat, Stephen Hunt, Kath Daily, Rene Goodwin, Dave Houlton, Diane Edwards, Joan Wain, Judith Twigg, Charles Jones, Muriel Wilson and Dennis Stewart.

Branch president Judith Twigg thanked all helpers for their hard work.
