BAKEWELL: Carnival day - with video
Thousands took to the sun-drenched streets of Bakewell to enjoy the town’s annual celebration.
The procession of floats and fancy dress was the culmination of a week of carnival activities.

Hide AdCarnival queen Jessica Turner and her entourage led the parade which included seven marching bands and a host of floats.
Highlights were the Manners’ pub’s Mary Poppins tableau complete with dance routines, a massive steam engine with a Lone Ranger theme from the Wheatsheaf pub, Night Rider and 101 Dalmatians.
Carnival chairman Denis Mooney said: “It was absolutely brilliant and the weather was sensational.
“The crowds were huge and we’ve had some great feedback. It was such a lovely day.”

Hide AdThe Wheatsheaf pub picked up first prize in the large float competition while the small float winner was a horse racing themed creation.
The grand procession ended a week of activities which kicked off with the International Day of Dance and included well dressings, a treasure hunt, raft race, pet competition, wheelbarrow race and Jack Russell races.
