Assault victim needed hospital treatment

Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted outside a fast food takeaway in Ripley.

The assault happened at around 12.30am, on Monday, May 30, as the 25-year-old victim was making his way home with family and friends.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesman said: “He was allegedly punched and kicked by two men who had followed the group for a short distance along Grosvenor Road towards Wellington Street.”

The offenders then ran off down Wellington Street away from the town centre.

Both suspected offenders were described as white and believed to be in their 20s. One was described as short, of stocky build and was wearing a light-coloured tank top and jeans. The other man was described as tall and was wearing a light-coloured, checked shirt and jeans.

A police spokesman added: “The victim suffered bruising and was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital for treatment.”
