Arson probe after house fire

A house fire at Mastin Moor is being treated as arson.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the blaze Friday, July 6.

The fire, in a property at the junction of Worksop Road and Renishaw Road in the town, is believed to have started at 3.30am.

The building was empty at the time of the fire and the fire was confined to one room.

A police spokeswoman said: “It appears that it started after someone broke a window in a downstairs room. The cause is being treated as suspicious.

“Anyone who has any information about the incident should ring DC Andy Toyn on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
