Arrests made in drugs crackdown

Arrests have been made as part of the police’s ongoing effort to crack down of drugs in the Dales.

Officers searched a house in Rutland Avenue, Matlock, on Monday, December 9, and found 14 suspected cannabis plants inside.

A 32–year–old man was arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation and has been bailed pending further inquiries.

During a stop search on Tuesday, December 3, police discovered a large amount of suspected cannabis on an 18–year–old man in Water Lane, Wirksworth.

A warrant at a property in Derby Road, Wirksworth, was carried out following the search where suspected class A, class B and paraphernalia were found.

The man was interviewed on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information on suspected drugs activity, is urged to call police on the non–emergency number 101999 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Only in the event of an emergency is the public advised to call 999 to report an incident.
