Appeal after assault on 16-year-old boy in Kelstedge

Detectives are trying to trace witnesses of an assault on a 16-year-old boy in Kelstedge.

The boy was walking along The Causeway, near to the Kelstedge Inn, at around 11pm on Thursday, July 21 when he was approached by a man who grabbed him by the shoulder.

The boy felt a scratching pain to his stomach and ran round the corner to the bus stop, getting on the X17 Stagecoach bus which was arriving.

He later realised he had suffered a cut to his stomach. He went to hospital but was released a short time later.

He has described the man as black, stocky and around 5ft 8ins tall. He had a beard and wore baggy trousers, white Adidas trainers, a black beanie hat and a blue jacket.

Police are trying to trace witnesses, or any passengers on the X17 bus at that time.
