Appeal after 30 chickens stolen from Ashover

Police are appealing for information after 30 chickens were stolen from Ashover.

They were taken from Hardwick Lane, between 6.30pm on Friday, April 13 and 9am the next day.

Two bird carriers and wildlife CCTV cameras were also stolen.

It is believed that thieves gained entry by climbing over a wall and forcing open a door.

PC Ian Wheelwright, of Derbyshire Constabulary, said: “We’d like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Hardwick Lane area of Ashover on the evening of April 13 and into the morning of April 14.

“The victim is naturally very upset at the theft of his birds, which are very dear to him, and we’d like to ask for the public’s help in recovering them.
