A business couple insist food hygiene standards have improved at their venue in Chesterfield - two months after inspectors raised concerns.
Daniel and Christina Power, owners of the All Saints Tap, say they are confident the popular premises will be awarded a higher food hygiene rating when a new inspection is carried out this week.
Chesterfield Borough Council inspectors visited the venue on St Mary's Gate in September and gave it a food hygiene rating of one - meaning 'major improvement' was necessary.
Today, a defiant Mr and Mrs Power said: "A new management team is now in place and all procedures are in place.
"We have been granted a re-inspection this week.
"Our premises and fridges are first-class and we welcome any inspection and are looking forward to receiving a much higher score this week."
A borough council spokesman confirmed that one of its food safety officers was likely to carry out a re-inspection of the All Saints Tap this week.
The food hygiene report for the All Saints Tap has been seen by the Derbyshire Times.
It states inspectors looked at the kitchen as well as the ground and first floor bars and identified a number of concerns, including:
► A thorough sort out of all food storage areas must take place to ensure there is no food which is unfit or out of date;
► A risk of bacterial contamination due to the storage of raw food next to and above ready-to-eat food in the freezer;
► Soap and drying materials were not provided at the wash hand basin;
► Pigeon droppings were present on the sill of the open window to the kitchen and feathers were blowing in on to jars;
► Dead flies were observed on the shelf.
The All Saints Tap - which describes itself as a 'lively meeting spot serving up craft ales galore, great eats and live sport' - opened at the start of August.
As reported at the weekend, Cipollini - the Italian restaurant above the All Saints Tap - is receiving rave reviews online.
The eatery - which boasts a botanical gin room - has so far been reviewed 28 times on TripAdvisor and has an overall five-star rating, with 90 per cent of reviewers describing it as 'excellent'.
