All-day food and drink venue to launch at Chesterfield's former Abacus building

York House will open at the site of the former Abacus bar on St Mary's Gate on Friday, August 26.

The venue promises to help customers savour all the various moments of the day.

It will serve coffee, breakfast and pastries in the morning as well as food throughout the afternoon and evening with the kitchen producing fresh, seasonal Mediterranean dishes including authentic tapas and sharing boards.

Drinks will include hand-pulled real ales, craft beers, wines, proseccos and cocktails.

A York House spokesman said: "The first-floor mezzanine will be a perfect spot for eating, socialising and watching various acts performing at York House Live, which will run twice per week.

"While you're up there, don't forget to browse around the venue's boutique delicatessen, which will be selling luxury artisan food and drink products and one-of-kind gifts."

Director Dan Power added: "We are proud to be moving into this prestigious area and extremely excited about working with other local businesses, helping to give Chesterfield and its visitors a greater eating and drinking experience.

"There's been an influx of excellent new food and drink offerings in the town in the past year or so and we're really looking forward to becoming part of the thriving new scene."

The old Abacus bar shut in January after the company which operated it, Enjoy Pubs Ltd, was closed under insolvency legislation.

The Abacus opened in February, 2011, and was a popular nightspot in the town.

Projected net sales for 2015 were £570,741. Turnover was £710,724 during 2014.

The three-storey building was previously home to the Barracuda bar.
